Abstract:
This paper presents a hybrid algorithm that combines the Moving Ball
Projection (MBP) method with an iterative projection approach to efficiently solve
variational inequalities (VIs). The proposed algorithm leverages the computational
efficiency of the moving ball technique, which reduces the complexity of traditional
projection methods by iteratively projecting onto a dynamically shrinking ball
within the feasible region. By incorporating this into a standard iterative scheme
for solving variational inequalities, the hybrid method ensures convergence while
significantly improving numerical performance. Theoretical analysis demonstrates
that the hybrid algorithm retains strong convergence properties under standard
conditions, such as monotonicity and Lipschitz continuity of the operators. Additionally,
we provide numerical examples to illustrate the practical advantages of this
approach, showing faster convergence compared to traditional iterative methods.
This hybrid technique offers a promising alternative for solving VIs in large-scale
optimization and equilibrium problems.
