Abstract:
The purposes of this study were: 1) to assess the extent of motivation factor, hygiene factor and the resignation intention of Generation Z employees, 2) to compare the intention to resign of Generation Z employees who have differences in personal factors, and 3) to investigate the influences of motivation and hygiene factors on the intention to resign of Generation Z employees.
The sample group used in this study comprised 400 employees aged 18 - 25 years working in Mueang, Lam Luk Ka, Khlong Luang, and Lat Lum Kaeo districts of Pathum Thani province. The research tool used to collect data was a questionnaire that passed assessment in terms of content validity and reliability. The statistics used to analyze data were mean, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multiple linear regression.
The study results showed that overall, motivation and hygiene factors were present at a high level whereas the overall resignation intention was at a moderate level. Differences in personal factors of gender and average monthly income did not affect the intention to resign of Generation Z employees. Conversely, differences in age, marital status, and educational achievement all influenced the intention to resign of Generation Z employees at a statistically significant level of .05. Moreover, the elements of motivation factor including achievement and work itself influenced the intention to resign of Generation Z employees at a statistically significant level of .05. Likewise, the elements of hygiene factor with respect to job security and employer-employee relationships also had effects on the intention to resign of Generation Z employees at a statistically significant level of .05.
