Communication Skills of Administrators in the Modern Era Affecting the Effectiveness of Teacher Performance in Schools under Buengkan Primary Educational Service Area Office
Abstract:
This research aimed to examine, compare, and determine the relationship, identify the predictive power, and establish guidelines for improving communication skills of administrators in the modern era, affecting the effectiveness of teacher performance in schools under Buengkan Primary Educational Service Area Office. The sample consisted of 348 participants, including 87 school administrators and 261 teachers in the 2024 academic year. The research tools included sets of 5-point Likert questionnaires that assessed communication skills of administrators in the modern era and the effectiveness of teacher performance, with the discriminative power ranging from 0.646 to 0.852, from 0.648 to 0.707, and the reliability of 0.879 and 0.820. The interview form for establishing the development guidelines was also employed. Data analysis was performed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, One-Way ANOVA, Pearsons product-moment correlation coefficient, and Stepwise multiple regression analysis.
The research results found that:
1. The communication skills of administrators in the modern era were overall at the highest level.
2. The effectiveness of teacher performance was overall at the highest level.
3. The communication skills of administrators in the modern era, classified by positions and work experience, showed differences at the .01 level of significance, both overall and in each aspect. When classified by school sizes, differences were also found at the .01 level of significance overall.
4. The overall effectiveness of teacher performance, classified by positions, showed differences at the .05 level of significance. When classified by school sizes, differences were found at the .01 level of significance overall.
5. A moderate positive correlation (r=0.317**) was observed between the communication skills of administrators in the modern era and the effectiveness of teacher performance, at the 0.01 level of significance.
6. The two aspects of communication skills of administrators in the modern era, namely clarity in communication and essential non-verbal communication, significantly predicted the effectiveness of teacher performance at the 0.01 level, accounting for 9.50 percent, with the standard error of estimate of ±0.17892.
7. The guidelines for improving the communication skills of administrators in the modern era, which affect the effectiveness of teacher performance, encompassed the following aspects: Clarity in Communication: Administrators should regularly practice using precise, clear, and direct language. Essential Non - Verbal Communication: Administrators should refine their vocal tone and body language to maintain politeness and professionalism, ensuring consistency between verbal and non - verbal communication.
