Abstract:
This research aims to study about the United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoner (The Nelson Mandela Rules), Study problems and find the ways to improve and change about the United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoner (The Nelson Mandela Rules). A Case study of Thonburi Remand Prison, As part of a quantitative research, samples were the prison officers at Thonburi Remand Prison. There are 178 people. Questionnaire was used in data collection and the statistical applications is Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, Samples in qualitative research in this study are 5 prisoners and 1 Person assigned by Superintendent. There are 6 samples in total. In-depth interview was used as the data collection method. Content analysis was utilised to analyse the data. The research results of the implementation of the United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoner (The Nelson Mandela Rules): A Case study of Thonburi Remand Prison included 219 items, it was found that compliance with The United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoner (The Nelson Mandela Rules) All 7 factors are 1. Basic principles of treatment 2. Safeguards 3. Material conditions of imprisonment 4. Security, order and discipline 5. Prison regime 6. Health care and 7. Prison staff. The Thonburi Remand Prison could achievement within 215 items (98.17%), partly achievement within 4 items (1.83%) and could not achievement within 0 items (0%)
