Abstract:
The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the process of child sexual exploitation via the Internet 2) to study ways and measures to prevent and suppress child sexual exploitation via the Internet. The sample included internet crime against children task force and social workers who are currently working with NGOs. Purposive sampling technique of 25 relevant interviewees was used in this qualitative research. The results showed that: 1) victims of child sexual exploitation resulted from many factors including type of victims, access to victims, and opportunity to become a victim; 2) modus operandi depends on the purpose of criminals; financial purpose and sexual purpose related to the methods to approach the victims (direct or indirect via the internet). 3) After being victimized, victims experienced psychological problems and require psychological remedies. It is suggested that guidelines for crime prevention by raising the awareness must be implemented. Measure of prevention and suppression must go through criminal justice system. Also, the policy about digital intelligence should be integrated into the student's curriculum. Finally, collaboration from all sectors involved is much needed.
