Abstract:
The objectives of this study were to 1) study the level of knowledge on nutritional value of the lunch program, 2) analyze perception of food sanitation of the lunch program, and 3) develop a participatory knowledge diagram regarding nutrition and food sanitation of the lunch program. The study was quantitative research. The sample group consisted of 340 students in grades 4 6, age ranged from 8 - 12 years at 4 levels of schools: extra-large schools, large school, medium school, and small schools. A voluntary random sampling method was used to meet the required number of the students. The tools used were questionnaires and tests. Statistics used for data analysis were frequency and percentage.
The result of the study according to the objective 1: the level of knowledge on nutritional value of the lunch program, found that most students had knowledge of nutritional value at a good level (63.82 percent). The result of the analysis according to the objective 2: the awareness of food sanitation of the lunch program, found that the students perception of the lunch program was at a good level (78.24 percent). Additionally, their perception of food sanitation was at a very good level calculated at 100 percent. The result of the study according to the objective 3: the development of a participatory knowledge diagram regarding nutrition and food sanitation of the lunch program from the aforementioned results, the researcher created a knowledge diagram of full, delicious, complete nutrition and harmless food regarding the lunch-for-children program in order to promote the perception and awareness of the importance of school lunch.
