Abstract:
This study aims to examine the effects of online coaching using the Satir model on the cognitive emotion regulation of mothers with children diagnosed with ADHD. The sample comprised 44 mothers of children with ADHD, aged between 4 and 12 years, who received services at the psychiatric department of Lampang Hospital. The participants were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group, with 22 participants in each group. The research tools included an online coaching program using the Satir model for cognitive emotion regulation, created by the researcher, and an assessment of cognitive emotion regulation. Data collection was conducted in three phases: pre-experiment, post-experiment, and follow-up. The experimental group received the online coaching program using the Satir model individually, six times, with each session lasting 45-50 minutes, twice a week for a total of five weeks. The control group received regular services. Data were analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA with one between-group variable and one within-group variable. Pairwise mean comparisons were made using the Bonferroni method. The research findings were as follows: 1) the experimental group had a significantly higher mean cognitive emotion regulation after the experiment compared to before the experiment, at the .05 level of significance. 2) the experimental group had a significantly higher mean cognitive emotion regulation at follow-up compared to before the experiment, at the .05 level of significance. 3) the experimental group had a significantly higher mean cognitive emotion regulation after the experiment compared to the control group, at the .05 level of significance. 4) the experimental group had a significantly higher mean cognitive emotion regulation at follow-up compared to the control group, at the .05 level of significance. In conclusion, the online coaching program using the Satir model is effective in improving the cognitive emotion regulation of mothers with ADHD children.
