Abstract:
From the situation of the spread of the Coronavirus 2019 that has caused the
elderly peoples to have stress from the infection. Resilience is a concept that effects
of emotional and psychological and helps the olderly peoples to have good quality
of life. The purpose of this research was to study the experience of elderly peoples
resilience through coping coronavirus disease 2019 by a phenomenological study.
The key informants were 12 elderly people who were infected with coronavirus 2019
and had a resilience score of 70 or higher. The research tools were semi-structured
in-depth interviews and content analysis. The research results as follows:
The experience of elderly peoples resilience through coping coronavirus
disease 2019 consisted of 2 issues: 1) Emotional and mental management;
1.1) Accepting the illness as normal, 1.2) Not being afraid of the disease, and 1.3) Having
mind power. 2) Awareness and social support; 2.1) Awareness of behavioral change,
and 2.2) Receiving positive encouragement from the people is valuable.
The results of this research are applied to development the elderly to have
increased resilience while infected with the 2019 coronavirus, emotional toughness,
good encouragement, and to be able to solve problems in life effectively
