Raising cyber security awareness in upper primary school students : a case study of thailand primary school
Abstract:
During the COVID-19 pandemic, educational
practices shifted from traditional classroom settings to online
learning. This transition has inevitably increased cyber threats,
necessitating a focus on cybersecurity awareness. This research
aims to assess and raise cybersecurity awareness among upper
elementary students at one of the primary school in Nan
Province, Thailand. The topic includes social engineering,
computer virus, phishing, secure password, and cyber threats in
Internet and social network. The assessment tools used in this
study consisted 40 multiple-choice questions administered as
both pre-test and post-test. Following the pre-assessment, 124
students who participated in the program engaged in on-site
training activities prior to retaking the post-test. The results
indicated a significant improvement in post-test scores
compared to pre-test scores, with a p-value of less than 0.001.
These findings demonstrate that the training program can
effectively enhance cybersecurity awareness among the upper
primary students.
