Translanguaging in English medium instruction at a private university in Thailand : an autoethnographic case study of a writing teacher's experience
Abstract:
By using an autoethnographic case approach, this study explores an L2 writing teachers experience of translanguaging with his students in an international college in a Thai university. The focal courses were creative writing and senior seminar, which were taught online in 2020. Analysis of data (writing samples, fieldnotes, video transcripts etc.) finds that multilingual students use a wide range of lexical resources to construct their academic writer identity; that their self-regulated learning in L2 creative writing can be nurtured by the classroom writing ecology; and that educational technologies can be decolonized through emergent translanguaging literature. L2 writing teachers are advised to approach L2 writing education systematically to support the emergence of translanguaging identities.
