Abstract:
This thesis proposes to control the speed of a separate excitation DC electric motor with controlling of voltage regulation for armature windings and magnetic field windings using a PI controller, A DC voltage power supply is generated by converting AC 220 Volts to 300 VDC feed through both DC Choppers to control the amount of voltage and current for both winding. The separate excitation DC electric motor used in this research is 220V/250W. A control system is created on MATLAB/Simulink computer programming. It uses a stacked
PI control loop, including speed control loop, voltage control loop and current control loop of the armature and magnetic field coils via dSPACE interfacing card DS1104 The results showed that Simultaneous control of voltage and current on the armature winding and magnetic field winding. It can effectively control the rotation speed in the range of 150- 1,500 rpm in both no- load and load conditions. It is also more responsive than the voltage control of the armature winding alone.
