Development of webquest lessons to enhance academic achievement entitled computer hardware of grade 6 students at Wat Suan Dok School, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province
Abstract:
The purpose of this independent study was to examine the results of WebQuest Lessons to enhance academic achievement entitled "Computer Hardware" for 20 Grade 6 students in the first semester of the 2018 academic year at Wat Suan Dok School, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province. The instruments employed in this study were 1) the WebQuest Lessons, 2) an achievement test, and 3) a survey form of the students' attitude towards the use of WebQuest Lessons entitled "Computer Hardware" which were applied to the study group. For data analysis, means, percentage and Effectiveness Index were analyzed. The results of the study reveal that the WebQuest Lessons entitled "Computer Hardwar ware" enhanced the students' academic achievement at 85.13 percentage of an 80% benchmark. Meanwhile, the students who had a higher academic achievement in cognitive abilities, application skills and analytical thinking skills had the efficiency index at 0.8323. This indicates these WebQuest Lessons enhanced the students' learning progress at 83.23 percent. The survey results of the students' attitude towards the use of WebQuest Lessons entitled "Computer Hardware" in enhancing the academic achievement were concluded in the following aspects. The attitude towards the access and multimedia was considered to be in the "highest" level with the mean at 4.63/5.00. The attitude towards the development of achievement and experiences was considered to be in the "highest" level with the mean at 4.57/5.00. The attitude towards the use of WebQuest Lessons was considered to be in the highest" level with the mean at 4.55/5.00. When. considered in every aspect, the total score was found to be in the "highest" level with the total mean at 4.57/5.00. Moreover, in the overall image of the students who used these WebQuest Lessons, they agreed that the uses of WebQuest Lessons could enhance their academic achievement. Also, the students could explain how the computer hardware works correctly, select what computer or hardware is appropriate with their tasks, and correctly analyze what the problems of a computer hardware ware.
