Abstract:
The research aimed to study 1) factor of personal, economic, social, knowledge and attitude of farmers 2) factors affecting the farmer's adoption of organic agriculture and 3) problems and recommendations of farmers in organic agriculture practice. The sample of 192 members of farmers in Mae Ho Phra Sub-district, Mae Taeng Distict, Chiang Mai Province samplings was divided into 2 groups. The first group consisted of 47 members who did the organic agriculture practice and the second group consisted of 145 members who didn't applied the organic agriculture practice. Data were collected by using interview schedule, and the collected data were analyzed using statistical methods including percentage, mean, standard deviation, minimum and maximum value while farmers' adoption was performed upon the analysis Logit regression. The study found that the predominant features of the sampled members who did the organic Agriculture practice could be described as being male 68.08 percent, average age of 52.57 years, education was Prathom 4, having 3-4 family members, average time spent in farming 22.28 years, the average area of agricultural is 8.71 rai, labors of agriculture less then 3 members, the average cost of agricultural production was 36,676.81 baht, most debt 61.70 percent, the average household of expenses 84,502.51 baht, most finances of agricultural 89.36 percent, have dealer marketing productivity 89.36 percent, most of respondents had received information on Organic Agriculture 4-6 times, the samples have taking part in organic agriculture training 93.62 percent, have contacted with the other agriculturists 91.49 percent and have contacted with the agriculture extension officer 55.32 percent. In addition, the samples have knowledge of organic agriculture practice in very knowledgeable and have attitude of organic agriculture practice in much agree. Off the sampled members who didn't the organic Agriculture practice could described as being male 73.10 percent, average age of 57.10 years, education is Prathom 4, having 3-4 family members, average time span of farming 16.02 years, the average area of agricultural is 6.55 rai, labors of agriculture less then 3 members, the average cost of agricultural production was 29,136.21 baht, most debt 61.37 percent, the average household of expenses 60,717.28 baht, most finances of agricultural 60.69 percent, have dealer marketing productivity 66.21 percent, most of respondents had received information on Organic Agriculture 1-3 times, the samples have taking part in organic. agriculture training 20.69 percent, have contacted with the other agriculturists 20:00 percent and have contacted with the agriculture extension officer 13.10 percent. In addition, the samples have knowledge of organic agriculture practice in intermediate level knowledge and have attitude of organic agriculture practice in that medium. It was found that factors affecting farmers' adoption in organic agriculture practice are increases include 1) labors of agriculture and 2) time spent of farming. 3) training on organic farming 4) knowledge of organic farming and 5) Attitudes to organic farming. The factors affecting the farmers' adoption in organic agriculture practice are lower include 1) age and 2) area of agricultural Problems and constraints reported by farmers in organic agriculture practice in Mae Ho Phra Sub-district, Mae Taeng District, Chiang Mai Province include the issue of organic farming is difficult, knowledge of organic agriculture practice is less, pest control difficult, market selling organic produce is little, Organic farming requires more time to taking care for plants, uncontrolled or follow organic farming procedure.
