Abstract:
The study aimed to investigate the motivation factors of Myanmar migrant workers in the province of Suphanburi, focusing on two objectives: 1) to examine the motivating factors for Myanmar migrnt workers in Suphanburi; and 2) to explore the factors influencing their decision to migrate to Suphanburi. This research adoptsed a qualitative approach using in- depth interviews with semi- structured interview design. The purposive sampling method was used to select a sample group of 30 Myanmar migrant workers in Suphanburi.
The research findings revealed that the most significant motivating factors for Myanmar migrant workers in Suphanburi were wage and compensation-related factors. Additionally, job security and relationships with supervisors and colleagues were also important factors contributing to their job satisfaction and success. On the other hand, the factors perceived as least motivating was the nature of work which was a daily routine and the opportunities for advancement as they did not want supervisor positions with high responsibilities. The foctors of relocation had little impact on the workers work motivation.
Furthermore, the study indicated that the Myanmar migrant workers expressed a desire to continue working in Suphanburi and did not wish to return to Myanmar due to the relatively lower cost of living in Suphanburi, allowing them to send remittances back to support their families in Myanmar.
