A study of co-teaching practices among Thai and foreign primary school teachers teaching in a particular intensive English program
Abstract:
This study examines the collaborative practices of co-teaching partners and the attitudes of Thai and foreign teachers towards co-teaching in an Intensive English Program (IEP) at a private boys' school in Bangkok, Thailand. Using a mixed-methods approach, thirty co-teachers provided data through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The quantitative results highlighted a strong consensus on the effectiveness of collaborative practices in enhancing communication, lesson planning, and instructional delivery. Qualitative insights emphasized meticulous co-planning, diverse teaching strategies, and the benefits of cultural exchange. The study underscores the importance of collaboration in improving student engagement, learning outcomes, and overall program effectiveness, despite challenges such as cultural and pedagogical differences. This research advocates for robust collaborative practices to enhance educational outcomes in language education.
