Sustainable aggregate production planning in a shoe factory in Thailand
Abstract:
This research purposes a multi-objective linear programming (MOLP) model for sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) that integrates employee well-being with traditional profit and environmental objectives. Current practices often neglect worker welfare, especially in developing regions. Our model seeks a production plan with three goals: exceeding minimum wage, ensuring worker safety with hazardous materials, and guaranteeing job stability by promising not to lay-off employee in the low season. By simultaneously optimizing these objectives, the model promotes a paradigm shift in sustainable supply chain management. This holistic approach encompasses the economic, social, and environmental aspects of the supply chain. The model offers a practical solution to balance these often conflicting goals, promoting environmental sustainability, ensuring fair compensation and job security for workers, and maintaining company profitability, also analyzes trade-offs between these priorities through various scenarios with different weightings.
