Oral health status of students before and after Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in San Klang subdistrict, San Pa Tong district, Chaing Mai province
Abstract:
The purpose of this retrospective study aimed to compare the oral health conditions of students and receipt of dental health promotion services before and after the outbreak of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the San Klang Subdistrict area, San Pa Tong District, Chiang Mai Province. Data were collected from a total of 322 students using a form to assess their oral health conditions. Record information on dental caries status, gingivitis status, and oral hygiene. Developed from school health data record, Health database of Ban Huai Som Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital, Java Health Center Information System (JHCIS) program. According to the findings, the oral health status of students after the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, an increase in the average number of decayed, missing, and filled permanent teeth (DMFT). The Gingival Index and Plaque Index increased (p<.001). Conversely, the provision of dental health care services, such as fluoride varnish application and sealant placement, decreased after the pandemic (p<.001). Following the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, students in San Klang Subdistrict, San Pa Tong District, Chiang Mai Province, experienced an increase in oral health problems and a decrease in dental health promotion services. Compared to before the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Therefore, should be measures promote dental health between the school and the local sub-district health promoting hospital. There for students' oral health problems to be resolved further.
