Abstract:
This research aimed 1) to study management methods for the elderly school established in Mae Puem subdistrict, Mueang Phayao district, Phayao Province, 2) to study achievement factors of the elderly school, and 3) to conduct suggestions for the elderly school management. This research is considered qualitative research. The data collected was gathered from 16 vital information providers by using a procedure of semi-structured interview. The findings revealed that the key success factors of the elderly school management are as follows. Firstly, the internal factor: management which consists of 1) planning: data arrangement, data analysis, plan determination, implementation of the plan, and evaluation, 2) organization management in which the structure of personnels was specified and the responsibilities of personnels were explicitly assigned, 3) Leading by the leader with vision and playing as the change agent leaders who initiated the alteration have positive visions, and 4) control through the monthly monitoring program in which monthly evaluation was monitored. The other one is the external factor: participation of consultants who participated in all-method management: planning, operation, benefit adoption, and evaluation, in which strong social networks and leaders, modern communication systems, information system arrangement, sufficient supporting resources, and mutual learning systems are relevantly included. With regard to the suggestions for development, it was found that the potential of leaders and voluntary teachers should be enhanced in terms of technological use for supporting communicative work fields, publicizing any operation in order to catch attentions of elders in terms of participating in the elderly schools activities, and collaborating with external networks in order to encourage the generation of strong and permanent social collaboration.
