Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to study (1) factors relating to English teaching quality in the secondary schools under the secondary educational area office Bangkok 2, (2) the correlation between the factors and English teaching quality, and (3) factors affecting English teaching quality. The study used quantitative research methodology. The samples used in the study consisted of 226 Thai teachers teaching English in the secondary schools under the secondary educational service area office 2 by means of simple random sampling. The instrument used for data collection was a set of five rating scale questionnaires. The statistics utilized in analyzing the collected data were percentage, mean, standard deviation, multiple correlation by analyzing the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient, and multiple linear regression analysis (enter regression). The results of the research revealed that: 1) The factors relating to English teaching quality in the secondary schools under the secondary educational area office Bangkok 2 consisted of the teacher-role factor, the student-role factor, and the school-role factor. 2) The teacher-role factor, the student-role factor, and the school-role factor were highly positively correlated with English teaching quality in the secondary schools under the secondary educational area office Bangkok 2 at .01 statistical significance. 3) The school-role factor, the student-role factor, and the teacher-role factor, respectively, were all highly influential factors that jointly predicted English teaching quality in the secondary schools under the secondary educational area office Bangkok 2 by 89.30%. They could be written in the form of the raw score equation and the standard equation, respectively: Yˆ = 0.153 + 0.191(X1) + 0.231(X2) + 0.549(X3) and Zˆ = 0.193(X1) + 0.235(X2) + 0.570(X3).
