Abstract:
The creation of academic journals involves more than just producing and disseminating research. Emphasis must also be placed on the quality of articles, the contemporary relevance of the content for the public, and adherence to the standards set by each journal. Continuous development and improvement are necessary to align with emerging technologies. Additionally, the development of the online journal system at King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok (OJS of KMUTNB) is aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the OJS system. This is achieved by utilizing the Open Journal System (OJS) for online journal management and publication. The system includes key components such as content management, journal membership, online article submission, article evaluation, and article publicity. Development and improvements are essential due to issues identified, such as undesired registrations leading to reduced data storage capacity and disturbances caused by unwanted emails sent from the system. Measures, like deactivating the member registration and email sending features, have been implemented to enhance the operational workflow of system administrators. In this research, data from the existing system was utilized to develop, refine, and test the updated functionalities. Personnel responsible for coordinating and managing academic journals within KMUTNB, covering four journals, namely Applied Science and Engineering Progress, The Journal of King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok, The Journal of Industrial Technology, and Journal of Business and Industrial Development, participated in the evaluation process. The average quality assessment score from five experts was 4.60, indicating high system effectiveness. The overall satisfaction rating from OJS of KMUTNB system administrators across five dimensions (Function Requirement, Function, Usability, Performance, and Security) was 4.52, reflecting high satisfaction. The satisfaction ratings from article contributors and evaluators averaged 4.33, aligning with the system's usability and effectiveness, demonstrating consensus on the practical usability of the developed system for managing academic journals.
