Abstract:
The coconut oil with extracts of Curcuma zedoaria Roscoe (COZ) can be used in feed for aquatic animals. COZ is high in antioxidant and contains medium chain triglyceride which is easily absorb into body of aquatic animals. The objectives of this work were to determine total phenolic content, total curcuminoid and antioxidant activity of COZ with different ratio of fresh rhizome of Curcuma zedoaria Roscoe to apply in feeds for whiteleg shrimp rearing. COZ was produced by using 3 different ratios of coconut meat to fresh rhizome of C. zedoaria Roscoe (w/w) 5:0.50, 5:1.0 and 5:1.5. It was found that increasing the fresh rhizome of C. zedoaria Roscoe content resulted in increasing total phenolic content, total curcuminoid and antioxidant activity. Whiteleg shrimp was reared for 60 days (8 weeks). The experiment was done using completely randomized design (CRD), 4 treatments, 3 replication, T1 used pellets), T2 used COZ (ratios of coconut meat to fresh rhizome of C.zedoaria Roscoe (w/w) ratio 5:0.5 w/w), T3 used COZ (ratios of coconut meat to fresh rhizome of C. zedoaria Roscoe ratio 5:1.0 w/w) and T4 used COZ (ratios of coconut meat to fresh rhizome of C. zedoaria Roscoe ratio 5:1.5 w/w). It found that the growth performance of white leg shrimp and from T2 was highest.
