Abstract:
This research aimed to study the bioactive compounds, antioxidant
activity and antibacterial Activity of crude extracts from Man-Ngo in Narathiwat
province. The tubers from Mun-Ngo. The crude extracts presence of the phenolic
compounds, flavonoids and tannins. The ethanolic crude extract showed the higher
total bioactive compounds than aqueous crude extract especially phenolic
compounds and hydrolysable tannins were highest. The crude extracts displayed
antioxidant activity by DPPH assay and FRAP assay. The results showed that ethanolic
crude extract showed the highest antioxidant capacity close Ascorbic acid. In addition,
the crude extracts showed antibacterial activities by Agar Diffusion Test with E. coli
ATCC 25922, S. aureus ATCC 6538P and B. subtilis ATCC 6051. It was found that, the
aqueous crude extract and ethanolic crude extract showed not different of potential
inhibitor of bacterias and showed the highest antibacterial activities against E. coli ATCC
25922 (gram negative bacteria). The results of study suggest that crude extracts from
Man-Ngo could be a good source of natural antioxidant and antibacterial agent
especially gram negative bacteria which could be applied in food and pharmaceutical
products based on medical and Thai medicinal plants development.
