Abstract:
The objectives of this research were : 1) to study the personal factors influencing the vendors purchasing decision of vegetables from Bang Nois farmers; 2) to study the vendors decision making styles at Pak Khlong market in buying vegetables from Bang Nois farmers. The sample groups used in this study were 243 vegetable vendors at Pak Khlong market, Bangkok. The sampling method used in this study was purposive sampling method, and data were collected by means of a questionnaire. The statistics used in analyzing personal data were percentage, arithmetic mean and standard deviation was used in analyzing the level of decision making styles of the vegetables vendors in buying vegetables from the farmers. Chi-Square statistic at 95% confidence level was used to test the hypothesis and relationship between personal factors that influence the decision to buy vegetables from the farmers.
The results showed that most vegetables vendors at Pak Khlong market were female, aged between 41-50 years, with an average income between 30,001 to 40,000 per month. The level of decision making in buying vegetables from the farmers overall were at a high level. The personal factors that has the highest influence on the vendors purchasing decision was the motivation factors, which were convenience of delivery, quality of vegetables and the long term trading between the vendors and the farmers;followed by health and environmentally friendly factors, such as freshness of the products, healthiness and environmental friendly products. The factor that has the least influence on purchasing decision was the economic factor, such as the appropriate price for the quality, the quantity of the product, and suitability for the current economic situation. The hypothesis test result showed that gender, age and average income per month influenced the vegetables vendors purchasing decision in buying vegetables from Bang Nois farmer. In addition, it was found that personal factors, such as motivation factors, health and environmental friendly factors, and economic factors, had an influence on the vendors purchasing decision in buying vegetables from Bang Noi farmers at Pak Khlong market, Bangkok.
