Factors influencing Thai people to have reptile pet
Abstract:
This study delves into the emerging trend of reptile pet ownership among Thai people, a domain that has seen significant growth in recent years. Moving beyond traditional pet choices, this research aims to understand the factors that influence Thai individuals to opt for reptiles as pets. The literature review encompasses a broad range of sources, focusing on theories related to pet ownership including the psychological factor, social factors, and marketing mix factors behind choosing exotic pets. This theoretical foundation informs the research's conceptual framework, which integrates well-established models from consumer decision-making. The methodology of the study involves a detailed survey, structured to test various hypotheses derived from the theoretical framework. A key component of the analysis is the application of regression models, which are employed to quantitatively assess the impact of identified factors on the decision to own reptile pets. The results from the regression analysis provide insightful revelations, indicating that specific factors related to personal driver, pet specification and assurance and social influence play a significant role in influencing this preference among Thai people. These factors, quantified through the regression model, offer a nuanced understanding of the motives behind the growing trend of reptile pet ownership. In the discussion, the study's findings are juxtaposed with the existing literature, providing a comprehensive analysis of how the results align or contrast with previous research. The implications of these findings are particularly relevant for businesses in the pet industry, offering insights into consumer preferences and potential market strategies. The conclusion of the study acknowledges the valuable contributions of the reptile lover community in Thailand, whose participation was instrumental in providing depth and context to the research. Overall, this study not only contributes to the understanding of pet ownership dynamics in Thailand but also adds to the broader discourse on exotic pet ownership and consumer behavior
