Abstract:
Synthesis, Characterization and Antibacterial Activity of 2-imidazole derivative Schiff-base Ligands and their transition complexes. A new coordination compounds with metal centre and N-N ligands, were synthesized by layering technique. Compounds were characterized by single-crystal x-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and UV-Vis spectroscopy. Structural studies show C-H...N, C-HS, C-HT interactions depends on the ligand, X,X- IMDA ligands show N-HN interactions, while X-ima-Bp and X-ima-Fl reveal C- Нл and лл interactions. Three series of compounds were characterized [M(2,4- MDA)2(NCS)2], [M(1Me-2-ima-Bp)3][Anion].solvent and [M(1Me-2-ima- Bp)2(NCS)], [M(1Me-2-ima-FI)2(NCS)], [M(2,4-MDA)2(NCS)2] provided octahedral geometry and also the second series, while the third series show different geometry depends on the metal the metal and co-ligands. For example [Zn(NCS) (1Me-2-ima- Fl)][Zn(NCS)3(1Me-2-ima-F1)2] there are two center atoms. One Zn center (Znl) is trigonal bipyramid geometry with two ligands in bidentate chelating ligand and one thiocyanate. (Zn2) is tetrahedral geometry with one ligand in monodentate and three thiocyanate. Whereas [Cd(N3)2(1 Me-2-Ima-F1)2]n is polymer. The antimicrobial most of the compounds were less active, however, the photoluminescence [Cd(1Me-2-Ima- FI)2(NCS)2] show the highest emission spectral intensit
