Abstract:
This research is a study of reducing patient waiting time at the blood collection unit using simulation analysis. The case study of the university hospital. This research aims to reduce waiting time in each service station, which in turn can reduce patient cycle time, and increase the resource utilization rate of the blood collection unit. Nine potential scenarios were developed and analyzed to propose an alternative solution. Among these scenarios, 2 emerged as the better scenarios based on affecting and without affecting the hospitals budget. Scenario 3 demonstrated a better scenario, where the average patient cycle time was reduced by 63.97% and increased by 10.019% for the average resource utilization rate without affecting the hospitals budget. However, when the hospitals budget affected. Scenario 7 demonstrated a better solution, where the average patient cycle time was reduced by 77.317%, but reduced by 11.071% for the average resource utilization rate.
