Abstract:
The study consisted of the following objectives: 1) to investigate the management of conservation and culture based on Iddhipāda by Somchit Bothong Mor Lam troop; 2) to compare the management of conservation and culture based on Iddhipāda by Somchit Bothong Mor Lam troop classified by genders, ages, and work duration; and 3) to propose suggestions for the management of conservation and culture based on Iddhipāda by Somchit Bothong Mor Lam troop.
The study employed mixed-method research including quantitative and qualitative methods. For quantitative method, a sample group of 140 persons was determined by Krejcie & Morgan table. The obtained data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation (S.D.), t-test, and One-Way ANOVA. For qualitative method, the tool used was in-depth interview with 5 key informants. The obtained data were analyzed by content analysis technique.
From the study, the following results were found:
1) Opinions about the management of conservation and culture based on Iddhipāda (the Four Noble Truths) by Somchit Bothong Mor Lam troop were overall at a high level x̄ = 4.51. When each aspect was examined, the following results were found from high to low: Citta (thoughtfulness) with a mean of x̄ = 4.61, followed by Viriya (effort) with a mean of x̄ = 4.51, Vīmaṃsā (investigation) with a mean of x̄ = 4.45, and Chanda (will) with a mean of x̄ = 4.43, respectively.
2) From comparing peoples opinions about the management of conservation and culture based on Iddhipāda by Somchit Bothong Mor Lam troop classified by different genders, ages, and work duration, the results found that there was no difference in peoples opinions; therefore, the null hypothesis was rejected.
3) Problems and suggestions for the management of conservation and culture based on Iddhipāda by Somchit Bothong Mor Lam troop were as follows: the troop was still facing financial difficulties, a lack of sponsors, and challenges with Covid-19. The troop needed to practice more with different artists. The management still lacked review or summary of the achievements in developing performances. Artists and staff required to be aware of the troop's norms and regulations, reach mutual agreement, and work together to solve problems. They should also establish networks and collaborate with other Mor Lam troops in the Isan region.
