Abstract:
This research is the qualitative research by having its purposes, that is, 1) to study the ceremony of watering and clothe changing of Loung Pu Kum in Umchan Subdistrict, Prajaksilapakom District, Udonthani Province 2) to study the Dhamma Principle as appeared in the watering and clothe changing ceremony of Loung Pu Kam in Umchan Subdistrict, Prajaksilapakom District, Udonthani Province and 3) to analyze the worshiping principle of Loung Pu Kam in Umchan Subdistract, Prajaksilapakom District, Udonthani Province. The results of the research are found that:
The ceremony of watering and clothe changing of Loung Pu Kam in Umchan Subdistrict, Prajaksilapakom District, Udonthani Province is the ceremony practiced by the folks towards the secret Buddhas image located in the village for a thousand year. The villagers take every Buddhist holiday in the full moon day of the sixth lunar months or relevant to Visakha Day. The ceremony will be managed in the sixth lunar month and to perform the fire display to worship Loung Pu Kam. The majority of people participate in this ceremony The folks believe that Loung Pu Kam will protect them from various calamities and the folks also request for the rain for their field work. Before watering and clothe changing of Loung Pu Kam, the villagers will surround the hall for three times. From that time, the villagers head and others will say about the invitation of Loung Pu Kam and perform the ceremony of clothe changing in order to be auspicious for the villagers and to preserve the old tradition of location.
The Dhamma principle as appeared in the ceremony of watering and clothe changing of Loung Pu Kam in Umchan Subdistrict, Prajacksilapakom District, Udonthani Province is; 1) the faith principle results from people in the community, community leaders, temples, state sectors and ones who have faith and confidence in Loung Pu Kams goodness 2) the unity principle is the harmony and completement both originators and participators in the traditional participation 3) the grateful principle is the expression of the gratefulness of people in the community, leaders in community, temples, state sectors and ones who believe in Loung Pu Kam 4) the alms-giving principle is the donation by giving the property, money, food, things and giving the life and to refrain from astray 5) the worshiping principle is to worship with the donation of requisites and practice.
The analysis of the worshiping principle of Loung Pu Kam in Umchan Subdistrict, Prasjaksilapakom, Undonthani Province is found that: 1) the faith principle is the expression of faith towards Loung Pu Kam. The occurred faith creates the empirical self-identity by practicing in accordance with the faith that will continue in the future 2) the principle of unity is the expression of harmony, completion, generosity, confederation with staffs to originate the ceremony until completion in every time 3) the grateful principle is the expression of gratefulness towards Loung Pu Kam who should be grateful and recollective and repayment 4) the giving principle is the donation of property, money, gold, things such as the giving pole with money, gold and distribution of foods 5) the worshiping principle is endowed with 2 formats, that is, the worshiping materiality is the worshiping with offerings such as flowers, joss sticks and candles, incense- sticks or things and worshiping practice is the Dhamma worshiping, that is, to practice the Buddhas teaching, to pay respect to the Buddha, Dhamma practice, donation of merits to Loung Pu Kam.
