Abstract:
The study consisted of the following objectives: 1) to investigate the level of peoples participation in health care activities of Ban Du Health Promotion Hospital, At Samat District, Roi Et Province; 2) to compare peoples participation in health care activities of Ban Du Health Promotion Hospital, At Samat District, Roi Et Province; and 3) to explore the guidelines for applying Aparihāniyadhamma to promote peoples participation in health care activities of Ban Du Health Promotion Hospital, At Samat District, Roi Et Province.
The study employed mixed-methods research including quantitative and qualitative methods. The quantitative method used questionnaires to collect data. A sample group included residents in Ban Du Subdistrict, At Samat District, Roi Et Province. A sample size of 368 persons was determined using Taro Yamane formula. The obtained data were analyzed by using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, f-test, and One-Way ANOVA. When there were more than three independent variables, the pairwise differences were assessed using the least significant difference. For qualitative method, the tool used was in-depth interview with 13 key informants. The obtained data were analyzed by content analysis technique.
From the study, the following results were found:
1) The level of peoples participation in health care activities of Ban Du Health Promotion Hospital, At Samat District, Roi Et Province was overall at a high level (x̄= 3.71 S.D.= 0.84). Peoples participation in health care activities of Ban Du Health Promotion Hospital based on Aparihāniyadhamma (7 Conditions of Welfare) was overall at a high level (x̄= 3.82 S.D.= 0.81). Peoples participation in health care activities of Ban Du Health Promotion Hospital was overall at a high level (x̄= 3.74 S.D.= 0.86).
2) From comparing peoples participation in health care activities of Ban Du Health Promotion Hospital, At Samat District, Roi Et Province, classifying by different genders, educational levels, occupations, and incomes revealed a statistically significant difference at the 0.05 level; therefore, the null hypothesis was accepted. People with different ages did not differ in in their participation in health care activities of Ban Du Health Promotion Hospital; therefore, the null hypothesis was rejected.
3) The guidelines for applying Aparihāniyadhamma to promote peoples participation in health care activities of Ban Du Health Promotion Hospital, At Samat District, Roi Et Province were as follows: (1) promoting people to take part in examining and assessing the operations of health care activities by Ban Du Health Promotion Hospital; (2) promoting people to engage in carrying out health care activities of Ban Du Health Promotion Hospital; (3) promoting people to take part in receiving benefits from carrying out health care activities of Ban Du Health Promotion Hospital; and (4) promoting people to take part in examining and assessing the operation results of health care activities by Ban Du Health Promotion Hospital.
