Abstract:
The purposes of this research were (1) to study the level of promotion of non-formal education centers, (2) to compare the promotion of non-formal education centers by classifying according to personal status, and (3) to study problems, obstacles, and suggestions for promotion of non-formal education centers in Bang Bon District of monks in Ninsukharam Temple, Bangkok. The study was the mixed method research between quantitative and qualitative research. In term of quantitative research, it used the questionnaire as the tool to collect the data in the field study from 164 high school students at the non-formal education center in Bang Bon District. The data were analyzed through frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation (S.D.). In term of qualitative research, using the documentary analysis as the tool to collect the data from 9 key informants and analyzed the data through the content analysis technique.
The research results found that:
1. Level of promotion of non-formal education centers in overall, it was at a high level with an average of 4.13. When considering each aspect, it was found that the aspect with the highest average was promoting the development of teachers and personnel to develop quality at a high level with an average of 4.19. As for the aspect with the lowest average value was the focus on managing the organization to be efficient according to the principles of good governance at a high level with an average value of 4.08.
2. Comparative results of the opinion towards the promotion of non-formal education centers, classified by gender, age, education level, and hometown, found that they were not different in every aspect which rejected the set hypothesis.
3. Problems, obstacles, and suggestions for promotion of non-formal education centers found that network partners did not cooperate in participating in religious activities in terms of budget and materials, the committee or those involved had not continuously developed teaching and learning arrangements, unable to develop the quality and standards of education and the provision of textbooks was not of high quality, not worthwhile and not sufficiently comprehensive, students upon completion of the course did not apply their knowledge to their careers or extend their existing careers. As for the suggestions for promoting non-formal education centers found that there was a variety of modern and creative proactive support in organizing activities to promote lifelong learning, and responding to the needs of the people and communities, there was careers training, promoting learning, strengthening the democratic process, establishing a coordination system to support learners in accessing various sources of capital, cultivating people in the community to spend economically.
