Abstract:
The objectives of this research are: 1) to study the state of leadership improvement of teachers in the 21st century, 2) to study methods for leadership improvement based on Sangahavatthu principles for teachers in the 21st century, and 3) to propose the methods for leadership improvement based on Sangahavatthu principles for teachers in the 21st century in Phachi-Raphiphat School Group, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province. The mixed research methods were used in the study. The quantitative data were collected by questionnaires from 101 samples and analyzed by percentage, mean and standard deviation. The qualitative data were collected by in-depth interviews with 8 experts and then analyzed by content analysis
The research results found that:
1. The state of leadership improvement of teachers in the 21st century in 4 aspects was at a high level overall. In descending order, the highest level was on teaching model, followed by transformational leadership, school development participation, and self-development and colleagues respectively.
2. The methods for leadership improvement based on Sangahavatthu principles for teachers in the 21st century indicate that: 1) Dana, teachers should be trained with skills and capability in their profession, 2) Piyavaca, teachers should be trained with communicative skills, 3) Atthacariya, teachers should have a chance to exchange their skills and experiences with their colleagues, and 4) Samanattata, teachers should be frequently trained with modern teaching techniques.
3. The guidelines for leadership improvement based on Sangahavatthu principles for teachers in the 21st century in Phachi-Raphiphat School Group, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province are as follows: 1) Dana, teachers should have a life-long learning vision, 2) Piyavaca, teaching techniques and methods should be provided to teachers, 3) Atthacariya, learning community should be built in school for exchange learning, and 4) Samanattata, teaching and learning plan and management should be co-operated together.
