Abstract:
The objectives of this research were 1) to investigate the learning management Based on Tisikkhā in the Learning Strand of Social Studies, Religion, and Culture at Wat Sai Yai School, Nonthaburi Province. 2) to develop learning management Based on Tisikkhā in the Learning Strand of Social Studies, Religion, and Culture at Wat Sai Yai School, Nonthaburi Province. 3) to present the learning management Based on Tisikkhā in the Learning Strand of Social Studies, Religion, and Culture at Wat Sai Yai School, Nonthaburi Province. The study applied qualitative research method with data being collected via in-depth interview and focus group discussion. A three-question interview was done with a target group of 9 teachers from Wat Sai Yai School. The obtained data were analyzed by percentage, mean, and standard deviation.
The research findings revealed that:
1) The learning management based on Tisikkhā in the learning strand of social studies, religion, and culture at Wat Sai Yai School, Nonthaburi Province is important for teaching and learning management as Tisikkhā-based learning is a self-practice process that progresses from simple to difficult tasks. As a consequence, students are more concentrated, grasp the learning content, and can practice effectively. Students can also use it to other learning contents.
2) Learning management through the development of learning management based on Tisikkhā in the learning strand of social studies, religion, and culture at Wat Sai Yai School, Nonthaburi Province emphasizes Sīla (morality), Samadhi (concentration), and Paññā (wisdom), starting from: Sīla-sikkhā (training in morality) is to restrain oneself both physically and verbally in order to maintain discipline; Samadhi-sikkhā (training in concentration) is to train for a mind that is concentrated and one-pointed without distraction in order to be attentive when studying. Students are taught to be mindful before starting the lesson; Paññā-sikkhā (training in wisdom) is the contemplation of the problem's conditions until one obtains understanding. Tisikkhā, or threefold training, is a continuous process of causation that is consistent with the Buddha's statement that if a person cultivates morality, it would result in concentration with many advantages, leading to great wisdom and many blessings. Once wisdom has been attained, the mind will be free of mental intoxication or defilement.
3) The guidelines for enhancing knowledge and ability for managing learning based on Tisikkhā at Wat Sai Yai School, Nonthaburi Province have been incorporated into students' everyday lives, and overall achievement in the learning strand of social studies, religion, and culture has improved.
The development of the learning management based on Tisikkhā in the learning strand of social studies, religion, and culture at Wat Sai Yai School, Nonthaburi Province allows students to integrate in their daily lives. The teaching and learning management should be age-appropriate in order to avoid boredom and to foster positive attitudes of students toward the teaching and learning in the learning strand of social studies, religion, and culture.
