The learning management of the STAR strategy combined with the grouping techinique to develop problem solving ability in mathematics for secondary 1 (grade 7) students
Abstract:
This research aimed to:1) compare the problem solving ability in Mathematics of Secondary 1 (Grade 7)students before and after studying through traditional learning management, 2) compare the problem solving ability in Mathematics of Secondary 1 students before and after studying through the learning management of the STAR strategy combined with the grouping technique, and 3) compare the problem solving ability in Mathematics of Secondary 1 students between studying through the traditional learning management and the learning management of the STAR strategy combined with the grouping technique.
The samples used in this research consisted of Secondary 1 students at Thanyaburi school, Pathum Thani province, with a total of 60 students obtained from cluster random sampling. The instruments used in this research consisted of:1) the learning management plans with traditional learning management, 2) the learning management plans with the STAR strategy combined with the grouping technique learning management, and 3) the problem solving ability in the Mathematics test. The statistics used for data analysis were mean, standard deviation, and t-test.
The research results were: 1) the problem solving ability in Mathematics of Secondary 1 students after studying through the traditional learning management was higher than before learning at the statistical significance level of .05, 2) the problem solving ability in Mathematics of Secondary 1 students after studying through the learning management of the STAR strategy combined with the grouping technique was higher than before learning at the statistical significance level of .05, and 3) the problem solving ability in Mathematics of Secondary 1 students studying through the learning management of the STAR strategy combined with the grouping technique was higher than the traditional learning management at the statistical significance level of .05.
