Abstract:
This research is a mixed methods research using quantitative and qualitative research methods. The objectives of this study were to examine the correlations between personal factors, health problems, and syndemics factors with social bullying among secondary school students, and study the meaning of social bullying from the attitude of secondary school students. Quantitative studies use secondary data from the project titled "Bullying targeting secondary school students who are or are perceived to be transgender or same-sex attracted: Types, prevalence, impact, motivation and preventive measures in 5 provinces of Thailand". The samples of this study were 2,070 secondary school students, age 17 to 20 years in 5 provinces of Thailand. The data were analyzed for One-Way ANOVA, Chi-Square Test and Ordinal Logistic Regression Analysis. And qualitative studies. The data was collected on secondary school students between grades 7 to 12, age 13 to 17 years, and studying in a school at Nakhonpratom by grouping interview 5 people at a time, split to 6 groups total of 30 students. The results showed that age factors, sex, gender identity, depression, suicidal ideation, suicide attempts, alcohol abuse, drug abuse, stimulant drug abuse and syndemics were related to social bullying with statistical significance at the level of 0.05. The factors that do not have any relationship with social bullying are the body mass index (BMI) factor, GPA, first intercourse was forced, and sex exchange. Secondary school students have defined social bullying as follows: 1) It is an act that affects emotions and hurts the mind. 2) It is aggression involving relationships between groups or between individuals. 3) The perpetrator feels himself accepted by the group. 4) Social bullying occurs in the real world and can be linked to cyber bullying. 5) Class discrimination and discrimination against another group. 6) It is an action that does not accept groups of people with gender differences. In the form of social bullying: 1) gossiping, disclose, creating lies, 2) banning, blocking from entering the group, and 3) looking with disparaging eyes. It is suggested that education campaigns be encouraged in order to educate and create understanding about all types of social bullying and bullying to secondary school students, including school personnel, so that everyone can understand and be aware of these problems. As well as campaigning for awareness and acceptance of gender diversity and campaigning for relevant agencies to have measures to help students who are victims of all types of bullying, including students who are affected by well-being by issuing a policy to prevent bullying and enforce every school in Thailand.
