SITUATIONS, NEEDS AND GUIDELINES FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF HEALTH PROMOTION BEHAVIOR FOR TEACHERS IN THE NEW NORMAL ERA UNDER THE SECONDARY EDUCATIONAL SERVICE AREA OFFICE MUKDAHAN
Abstract:
Health promotion behavior was important in the new normal era and was essential to the
teachers implementation that affected the development in many areas of life. The purposes of this
research were (1) to study the current and desirable situations of health promotion behavior for
teachers in the new normal era, (2) to assess the needs of health promotion behavior for teachers
in the new normal era, and (3) to develop the guidelines for the development of health promotion
behavior for teachers in the new normal era under the secondary educational service area office
Mukdahan. The sample group consisted of 266 teachers according to the proportion using
the percentage criteria, and they were selected by stratifiedrandom sampling. There were 4
instruments used in this research: (1) a questionnaire about the current situations of health promotion
behavior for teachers in the new normal era with the index of item congruence (IC) between .60-1.00,
the discrimination between .29-.55, andthe reliability of .92; (2) a questionnaire about the desirable
situations of health promotion behavior for teachers in the new normal era with the index of item
congruence (IC) between .60-1.00, the discrimination between .26-.66, and the reliability of .91;
(3) a structured-interview form with the index of item congruence (IC) of 1.00; and (4) the suitability
and possibility assessment form of the guidelines for the development of health promotion behavior for
teachers in the new normal era with the index of itemcongruence (IC) of 1.0. The statistics employed
werepercentage, mean, standard deviation, and modified priority needs index (PNI Modified).
The results revealed that (1) the overall current situations of health promotion behavior
for teachers in the new normal era were at the high level, and the overall desirable situations of
health promotion behavior for teachers in the new normal era were at the highest level. (2) The need
assessment for the development of health promotion behavior for teachers in the new normal era
that revealed higher average, namely nutrition, mental health care, exercise, and restful sleep.
(3) The guidelines for the development of health promotion behavior for teachers in the new normal era
revealed as follows: 1) Nutrition, teachers should consume the right amount of food for their energy
balance and they should consume the five food groups per day according tonutrition flag;2) Exercise,
teachers should exercise according to F.I.T.T. (Frequency: Intensity: Time: Type)principles and perform
adequate physical activities; 3) Restful sleep, teachers should sleep an average of 7-9 hours per night to
complete a quality sleep cycle. There should be monitoring sleep quality through an application on a
smartwatch or smartphone; 4) Environment conducive to health, teachers should get access to promoting
physical activity communities and naturalenvironment; 5) Health promotion policy, schools should
encourage teachers to attend annual health check-up at least once a year and teachers should follow the
concept entitled Health in all policies from various organizations; 6) Responsibility for health,
teachers should avoid alcohol and drugs and they should be interested in learning about health in the new
normal era; and 7) Mental health care, teachers should train themselves to think positively and
creatively. The stress should be monitored through an application on the smartwatch. The results of the
overall development evaluation revealed that the suitability was at the highest level and the possibility
was at high level.
