Abstract:
The sub-district health promoting hospitals (HPH) provide the occupational and environmental health services comprising prevention of occupational and environment diseases, work injury, health promotion, curing, and rehabilitation to ensure a healthy and safe living environment for formal and informal workers and for everyone. This cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate the occupational and environmental health services in HPHs and their related factors. The sample was 55 HPHs in Samut Prakan Province and the respondents were the responsible providers for the occupational and environmental health services. Data collection was done though mailed questionnaire. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, and chi-square test. The statistical significance level was less than 0.05. The results revealed that 5-HPH provided occupational and environmental health services that met the criteria at an excellent level, whereas 54-HPH did not meet the criteria. However, HPHs that passed the standard criteria and the responsible people have positive attitude towards occupational and environmental health services scored higher than the responsible people from HPHs who did not meet the standard criteria (p < 0.05). It is recommended that Provincial public health office should require all HPHs to implement the policy regarding occupational and environmental health services to cover all target groups and increase access to services in the target population. Also, training should be conducted in the group of primary responsible people for them to realize and recognize the importance of occupational health and environmental health services.
