Abstract:
This cross-sectional survey study was aimed to determine relationship between predisposing factors, enabling factors and reinforcing factors to health-promoting behaviors of garbage collectors in municipalities Bangpakong district, Chachoengsao province. The samples were 191 garbage collectors. The instruments were questionnaires that had the Cronbachs alpha reliability coefficient values of health-promoting knowledge, health-promoting attitude, health-promoting behavior's policies, reinforcing factors and health-promoting behaviors were 0.84 (KR-20), 0.78, 0.83,0.92 and 0.89, respectively. Descriptive statistics and Chi-square test were used for data analysis.
Factors that related with health-promoting behaviors of garbage collectors at significant at p-value < 0.05 were predisposing factors namely sex (p-value = 0.043), extra job (p-value = 0.004), annual health examination (p-value = 0.022), drug or stimulant (p-value = 0.001), health-promoting attitude (p-value < 0.001) enabling factors namely health promoting-media (p-value < 0.001), public health service unit (p-value = 0.001), annual health checkup policy (p-value < 0.001), promoting-health and security policy (p-value < 0.001) and reinforcing factors (p-value < 0.001). This study finding the most of samples had never annual health checkup, therefore suggest that municipalities specify or provide annually health checkup. If any researchers wanting to know the factors related to the health-promoting behaviors of garbage collectors in any additional issues or wanting to follow up the study results, therefore should suggest researchers studying a prospective study and qualitative study for knowing about more detailed, clear and complete.
