Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to understand the situation of the decision to tack and to explain the phenomenon of the decision to tacking of the Thai national team sailor under conditions that are not caused by physical factors. The sample was 5 skipper positions sailing athletes (types 470, 49fx, 49er, ILCA6, and ILCA7) who represented the Thai national sailing team for the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, People's Republic of China. The data were collected by in-depth interview, in conjunction with participant observation and field notes. The result found that sailing athletes decided to tack by 5 main issues: 1. Deciding to tack against the wind according to the basic skill of tacking. Can be divided into 2 issues: wind currents change and sea wave changes. 2. The decision to tacking against the wind from the psychological game. It can be divided into 2 issues: the reversal to control the game/group, the opponent, and the reversal according to the athlete's competitive strategy.3. Deciding to tack on the difference in situation and athletes physical fatigue. 4. The decision to tacking from the mental state of the athletes can be divided into 2 issues: 1) The state of mind that occurs during the competition. It can be divided into 4 states: excitement, pressure, anticipation/fear of losing, and self-confidence 2) What happens from the state of mind of athletes is stimulated can be divided into 2 issues: the thought process has changed (overthinking or confusion) and loss of focus in the game. And 5. The decision to tacking due to the influence of those around him affects the thinking of the athletes. can be divided into 2 issues: creating pressure and creating confusion.
