Coping with political transition: integrating social justice into labor Policies through social dialogue for trade
Abstract:
This study focuses on the challenges faced by trade unions in Myanmar and how they can effectively represent workers despite political transitions. It looks at a platform called bipartite social dialogue, where trade unions and employers collaborate to address labor policies. By analyzing information from online sources like news articles and reports, the study explores how this platform can promote fairness and justice in the workplace. The research findings indicate that trade unions in Myanmar have had difficulties organizing and expressing their views, especially after the coup. It becomes harder for them to protect the workers rights after the coup détat imposed more restrictions on their activities and violations of labor laws. However, the study suggests that trade unions can still operate and advocate for better working conditions and positive changes by engaging in social dialogue and receiving support from the international community. In summary, this study examines the obstacles faced by trade unions in Myanmar and how they can overcome them through social dialogue. It emphasizes the importance of justice for workers and highlights the potential for positive outcomes through international support.
