Abstract:
This research aims to (1) study the level of cultural intelligence of service industry students, (2) develop a program to promote the cultural intelligence of hospitality industry students for value creation, and (3) experiment with a program to promote the cultural intelligence of hospitality industry students for value creation, and (4) suggest ways to implement a program to promote cultural intelligence of hospitality industry students for value creation in higher education. The sample used were 532 students studying the hospitality industry were obtained through stratified random sampling. Research tools include service industry a program to promote cultural intelligence of hospitality industry students for value creation, observation, interview form, and questionnaires. Data analysis with content analysis, descriptive statistics, and inferential statistics using t-test and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were conducted using the statistical software. Finding found that 1) The study sample had a high level of cultural intelligence. When considering each factor, it was found that the sample group had the highest cultural intelligence on motivational CQ. followed by metacognition CQ, behavioral CQ, and cognition CQ. 2) A program to promote cultural intelligence of hospitality industry students for value creation is complemented by the development of cultural intelligence in six stages, including cultural awareness, cultural experiences, facing cultural situations, reflection from both the learner and the teacher, group discussion and exchange of ideas, and developing them into their practices, and then entering a five-step of the value creation process: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test with a 30-hour program duration, divided into times. 3 hours at a time, 10 times. 3) The level of cultural intelligence of hospitality industry students after participation in the program was statistically significantly higher than before the program at .05. When considering each factor, hospitality industry students had a statistically significantly higher level of cultural intelligence after joining the program than before joining the program at .05 at the .05 level for all factors. The most different factors were cognitive CQ, followed by behavioral CQ, metacognitive CQ, and motivational CQ, respectively. 4) Applying a program to promote the cultural intelligence of hospitality industry students for value creation can be applied in a variety of ways. Whether it is part of a related subject, both cultural intelligence relevance and value development concepts are relevant. Adoption is a curriculum of the Higher Education Institute in the hospitality industry. Adoption is in the form of cooperative education that relies on the cooperation of both educational institutions and establishments, professional experience training, opening up as a specific course of higher education, as well as learning at your attention and studying to accumulate credits.
