Abstract:
The objective of this project is to create an optical
communication system through our "Optical Communication Test Kit
via Add/drop and Amplifier Devices". Because there is no experimental
Test Kit to demonstrate a work with low-cost and easy for
manufacturing, this makes the on-site users, who do not understand the
use of device, waste their time and expenses. Test kit consists of a
transmitter (using a laser diode (FP-laser diode)) as a light source with
three wavelengths of 850, 1310, 1550 nm, a receiver (using a
photodiode (PIN Photodiode)), fiber Couplers (used to combines and
splits light), Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) (used to filter the light) and a
3-port optical circulator acting as a light circulator. In the kit, the
Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) is used to measure the
optical power to validate whether the optical power is the same as
designed or not. The results show they are related to the theory.
