Abstract:
The objective of this article was to study the way of life of the people that appeared in the folk tales entitled Nang Sib Song in ASEAN. The folk tales used for analysis were the folk tales of Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar. The study results were found that: 1) according to the way of life about making a living that appeared in the folk tales of Nang Sib Song in ASEAN, it was found that there was a similarity in the folk tales of Nang Sib Song in ASEAN in terms of fishing, finding fruit, finding firewood, sugarcane cultivation, and rice cultivation. However, the study also found the differences according to the way of life about making a living the appeared in the folk tales of Nang Sib Son in ASEAN as follows: raising cattle and eating betel nuts in the Thai version; weaving in the Lao version; and finding water re sources in the Myanmar version, 2) Owing to the way of life about family and association that appeared in the ASEAN folk tales entitled "Nang Sib Song," the study found the similarity due to the way of life about family and association in terms ofcockfighting and food cooking. On the other hand, the differences in the way of life about family and association that appeared in the folk tales of Nang Sib Song were as follows: Saka playing, merit making, and cart driving in the Thai version; Len Huean Noi (playing a seller) in the Lao version; Saba playing in the Cambodian version; and spinning top in the Myanmar version, and 3) Due to the way of life about social order and social control that appeared in the ASEAN folk tales entitled "Nang Sib Song", the study found the similarity according to the social order and social controls in terms of gambling and doing good deeds. However, the study also found a difference in the way of life about social order and social control that appeared in the Thai version of Nang Sib Song in terms of the childrens play.
