Abstract:
The objective of this research was to analyze the communicative English use for tourism based on local resources of the stakeholders in Ban Wai Village, in the district of Lomsak, Phetchabun Province, using the framework of English for Specific Purposes based on Hutchinson and Waters (1998). Qualitative data was collected through Semi-Structured Interview and a focus group with subsequent content analysis. The key informants were 20 members of the stakeholders in Ban Wai, Lomsak District, Phetchabun; including students and alumni, teachers and the director of Pho Khun Phamueang Uppatham School, merchants, and the owner of a homestay business enterprise. The results revealed that the content for English communication in this particular context of local tourism was as follows; 1) Greetings and introductions, 2) Welcoming tourists, 3) Providing information related to local tourist attractions, and 4) Offering thanks and ending the activity with appropriate terms and expressions.
