PROMOTING CONFIDENCE IN ENGLISH SPEAKING WITH A FLIPPED CLASSROOM MODEL
Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to investigate whether a flipped classroom model could help improve English speaking confidence of secondary school students in Thailand. The participants were 30 students studied in a flipped classroom. They were selected through a convenience sampling method. The instruments consisted of an interview, a pre-study questionnaire, and a post-study questionnaire. The statistics employed to analyze the quantitative data were means and standard deviations, and pair sample t-test while the qualitative data was analyzed through content analysis. The results revealed that the participants in a flipped classroom group had improved their confidence in speaking using four speaking activities. The participants post-study scores were significantly higher than the pre-study scores. Finally, the students described their attitudes towards their learning styles positively
