Abstract:
This independent study aimed to investigate the quality of work life and the organizational commitment of academic staff at Srinakharinwirot University based on a qualitative research methodology.
The samplegroup used in this study comprised 10 academic staff who had at least six months of work experience in Srinakharinwirot University at Nakhon Nayok province. The instrument used to collect data was an in-depth interview. The method used to analyze the data was content analysis.
The study results showed that university staff formed a resource that could be considered of great importance to the university. The development and promotion of academic staff in the university to improve quality of life at work, increase morale and love of working would affect the efficiency and effectiveness of the university. Guidelines for promoting the quality of life in the workplace could be considered from eight elements: adequate and fair compensation, safe and healthy working conditions, opportunity for growth and security, opportunity to use and develop human capacities, social integration in the work organization, constitution in the work organization, work and total life span, and social relevance of work life. Furthermore, it was found that if university administrators implement appropriatehuman resource management policies, one benefit will beacademic staffs organizational commitment, which drives these employees to work for the university with their full knowledge and abilities and, in doing so, achieve the goals of the university.
