Abstract:
This research aims to study relationship among self-directed learning readiness and learning achievement motivation of nurse anesthetist students and study level of self-directed learning readiness of nurse anesthetist students at Siriraj Hospital. This research was conducted using a non-parameter correlation study. The sample group consisted of 35 students studying in nurse anesthetist program at the Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital from September 2017 to October 2018. Self - directed learning readiness data were collected using the self - directed learning readiness scale nursing education (SDLRS_NE) questionnaire and learning achievement motivation was evaluated by Motivated Strategies for learning questionnaire (MSLQ). After collecting data for three times, the scores obtained from the questionnaires were analyzed using descriptive statistics of Rho's Spearman in order to find the relationship between self-directed learning readiness and learning achievement motivation. All the 35 students who were studying in nurse anesthesia program at siriraj hospital replied and returned the questionnaires for 3 times. The results revealed that the third time had the highest level of self-directed learning readiness. In addition, it was also found that self-directed learning readiness, learning achievement motivation, and learning achievement had no relationship with one another. The study discussed that the result of no relationship between variables might be due to improper duration for educational data collection which affects the research because students were probably stressful during preexamination. Therefore proper duration should be greatly considered when conducting data collection. There were several factors affecting self-directed learning of students, such as mental factors, personal factors and social factors. Further studies in the context of nurse anesthetist students and qualitative research were recommended.
