Abstract:
The aims of this current research were to 1) study the Kings Philosophy 2) study presentation strategies of the Kings Philosophy and the use of imagery 3) study the values of the Kings Philosophy portrayed in the literature written during the reign of King Rama IX. The data was drawn from 9 excellent award winning novels namely, The Great Field, Red Bamboo, Mr. Lee and Miss Ma, His Name is Kan, A Child of the Northeast, There is still pleasure in this place, That woman is Boonrod, The Throne Made of Leaves, and Bang-Ka-Pong. Descriptive analysis statistics was used in analyzing the data. The results revealed that the study of the Kings Philosophy appeared in the Literature written during the Reign of king Rama IX including 3 categories: 1) Soil management concept that deals with improving the condition of acid soil and sandy soil so that it can be used in agriculture, 2) Water management concept that aims at solving the water shortage problem by digging a pond in the middle of the village as well as a well to lessen the degree of water shortage issue, and 3) Forest management concept, the purpose of which is to solve the problem of illegal wood cutting as well as slash and burn area in order to grow poppies. The management is inclusive of utilization of forest resources by incubating everybody the local forest conservation awareness and the worthwhile utilizing of the forest. Regarding the study of the presentation strategies of the Kings Philosophy and the art of using imagery in the literature written during the reign of King Rama IX, it was found that 1) the study of the presentation strategies of the Kings philosophy includes 4 techniques namely, 1.1) the presentation strategies used in presenting the Kings philosophy regarding the management of soil resources, water resources and forest resources via setting, 1.2) the presentation strategies used in presenting the Kings philosophy regarding the management of soil resources, water resources and forest resources via characters, 1.3) the presentation strategies used in presenting the Kings philosophy regarding the management of soil resources, water resources and forest resources via conversation and 1.4) the presentation strategies used in presenting the Kings philosophy regarding the management of soil resources, water resources and forest resources via description. 2) The presentation strategies of the Kings Philosophy by the use of imagery indicated the use of 5 types of imagery: 2.1) hearing 2.2) sight 2.3) smelling 2.4) taste and 2.5) touch. The study of the values of the Kings Philosophy portrayed in the literature written during the reign of King Rama IX showed that there were 10 aspects of value namely, 1) effort 2) mindfulness 3) generosity (4) self-civic duty 5) natural awareness 6) patriotism 7) art and culture preservation 8) sustainability 9) persistence and 10) fostering social justice. The 9 novels not only reflected the Kings Philosophy of King Rama IX on the management of soil resources, water resources and forest resources, but also presented the portrayal of the philosophy and the art of using imagery via setting, characters, conversation and description appropriately. Additionally, they portrayed the various types of values which will allow the readers to apply the insights into their lives regarding the royal idea of the late King Rama IX.
