Abstract:
The objectives of this descriptive study were to investigate and compare the health literacy 3E
2S of the elderly in Narathiwat province under Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The
samples were 1,087 elderly living in Narathiwat province, obtained from multistage random sampling.
The research tools were questionnaire which consisted of demographic data and the health literacy 3E
2S of the elderly. The content was validated by experts, and its reliability had been validated by
Cronbachs alpha coefficients at 0.8. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, and oneway ANOVA.
The findings revealed that the score for health literacy 3E 2S among the elderly in Narathiwat
province under COVID-19 pandemic was at a low level (M = 38.7, S.D. = 7.83). Considering each
aspect separately, most of the elderly had knowledge and understanding of health literacy, access of
information and service, communication, self-management, and ICT and digital literacy at a low level.
However, the aspects of making decision and practice on health were at a high level (M = 8.96,
S.D.= 1.71). When it is compared with the health literacy 3E 2S, it revealed that the elderlys main
caregivers, medical caregivers and level of education were varied, and the health literacy 3E 2S had a
statistical significant difference at .05.
