Abstract:
The taxonomy of marine spider crabs in Thailand are revised and clarified based on field collection and museum collection during September 2013 to January 2015. Field collection, the specimen were obtained from the gill nets by the local fishing boat which collected from 6 stations along the Inner, Eastern and Upper coast of Gulf of Thailand. For the museum collection, the specimens from two museums; the Reference collection of Phuket Marine Biological Center (PMBC) and the collection of Marine Science Department, Faculty of Fisheries, Kasetsart University (MSCI) were reexamined. All specimens were identified by the difference of morphological structures on their carapace and shape of the first male gonopod (G1). A total of 752 specimens were identified in superfamily Majoidea with 4 families, 5 subfamilies, 21 genera and 40 species. Two species, Tiarinia angusta and Tylocarcinus styx, are identified as new records in Thailand. In this studies key to species, pictorial key, diagnosis, description, figure, distribution and synonyms for each species were provided. Furthermore, the first report of females gonopore were presented to clarify the spider crab species when there is no male specimen collection
