Abstract:
The Objectives of the research were to: 1) study the identity and souvenirs of Chanthaboon Waterfront Community in Mueang Chanthaburi District, Chanthaburi Province, and 2) design souvenirs of Chanthaboon Waterfront Community. There were three research methods. The first one was to study the identity and souvenirs of Chanthaboon Waterfront Community by Interviewing three targeted people including leaders and entrepreneurs in Chanthaboon Waterfront Community. The second one was to design souvenirs of Chanthaboon Waterfront Community by creating a set of designing sketches consisting of 3 souvenirs with 5 design sketches per a souvenir. Then, a set of designing sketches would be selected by three souvenir designing experts from an interview form to create a model of souvenir. And the last one was to assess the satisfaction of 100 tourists in Chanthaboon Waterfront Community by using souvenir designing assessment form. The results showed that: 1) the study of the identity and souvenirs of Chantaboon Waterfront Community to guide for designing was divided into 2 aspects; the identity: 1) tangible identity: architecture, ancient houses, wood carving, and gingerbread wood stencil, and 2) intangible identity: the simplicity way of life, and peaceful community; souvenirs: they could be products that could be used in everyday life such as umbrellas, bags, multi-purposes boxes expressing Chanthaboon Waterfront Community. 2) The study of designing souvenirs of Chanthaboon Waterfront Community by the experts showed that the total average of the third designing sketch was the most suitable in all aspects which were characteristic, aesthetic, function, and production. the tourists satisfaction result was at a very satisfactory level.
